Hatching a dragon egg

Dragons are like reptiles. The word "dragon" came the Greek, and it means like a snake.

Dragons are known to breathe fire out of their mouths and they have bat-like wings.

Dragons hatch from eggs and have feathery, scaly bodies. They are known to have spikes on their backs and they have large yellow or red eyes.

Dragons are supposed to have magic powers and some people worship them. Some people think they are smarter than humans and they are supposed to live longer.

They usually live in an underground den or cave.

The most famous dragon is from Wales, it is a red one called Smaug, and it is in the book The Hobbit.

Dinosaur bones used to be mistaken for dragon bones by the people who studied fossils.

Our dragon is good at:
Flying, Fire breathing, Roaring, Hunting
What do Black Dragons eat?
Dragons any creature that doesn't eat them. That would be anything. They would even eat HUMANS!! But somethimes they will eat fruit and vegitables if there is no living creatures around! Dragons will not eat anything out from the sea unless it is a sea dragon.

The eyes were: buttons
The nose was a: carrot
The mouth was a: worm
The hair was a lot of: straw
The hat was an: old hat
The shirt was an: old shirt
The hands were: gloves
How it works:
When the scarecrow senses a crow with the micro ship in it, the scarecrow will start to make a shouting noise and spin around rapidly. And at night the scarecrow does the same thing but, it doesn't make the shouting sound it just spins harder which makes wind and swoops the crows off their so they fly away.
The scarecrow's power comes from the farm. And the scarecrow doesn't fall down because it has no legs! Its body is stuck in the ground.
The body is connected to a pump.
And to make the scarecrow work all it needs is water. It only needs about 2 or 3 litres of water a day to keep the scarecrow going for around three to four days. The scarecrow will be the size of a 20 or 30 year old man. The scarecrow will last for around two or three years.

Fizz Whizz!

Chemical reactions - Alkaline Versus Acid

Chemical reaction - Alkaline Versus Acid
I am going to use bicarbonate of soda to see what drinks, both alkaline and acid will react to.

The acid drinks will be viniger, pinapple juice and Coke. The alkaline drinks will be milk, rasberry cordial and coffee. I will predict what occur when bicarb soda is introduced into firstly the alkaline drinks, then into the acid drinks.

How does the experiment work?
Bicarb soda reacts with the acids, releasing carbon dioxide which bubbles up through the experiment. The more acid drink (like vinegar), the more fizz will be made.

Here is a picture of the vinegar fizzing with the bicarbonate of soda:

Dress up for dinner CLOZE

Dress up for dinner!

You will need a large block of chocolate, a flat tin plate, a knife and forke, a dice, and a old hat and coat.
The guests sit in a circle with the chocolate, plate, knife, forke, hat, coat ect. in the middle.

Each person throws the dice. If a six is thrown the player gets up, runs to the center, puts on the hat and coat, picks up the knife and forke and begings to eat the chocolate. One square is cut off at a time, and and that must be eaten with fingers before the next piece is cut off.

While the next player is eating, the rest of the team take it in turns to throw the dice. When another six is trown, that guest runs to the center, takes the hat and coat from the previous person, gets dressed and begins to eat the chocolate.

(If many sixes are thrown one after the other, there is a big rush as people begin to put on the coat only to have another person race out and take it for them.)

We gave the horses sugar cubes they are very good for the horses energy. After we fed our horses we went to the jumping coarse and did jumps. My dad didn’t jump any but I did I was brave. I don’t have any pictures of my riding Prince but I have some off the internet that look like me.

Pegasus the Winged Horse

Pegasus the Winged Horse

Long ago in the faraway land of Lycea in Asia there lived a fierce monster called the Chimer. It breathed fire and smoke from its huge nostrils and devoured anyone who dared to come near it - sheep, cattle, men, women, children and even wild beasts. People were afraid to come out of their homes and their King Isobates could neither eat nor rest for worrying how to rid his land of the evil monster. For what mam would be so brave as to undertake so dread a task? The monster had no fewer then three heads, a goat, a loin's and a serpent's, and from its three heads there gushed fourth tongues of flame that burnt the countryside and spread destruction for and wide. The Chimera's body was like that of a dragon and its tail like that of a boa
constrictor.

At that time a brave and noble young knight, Bellrophon by the name, chanced to visiting the King of that land. It was Bellrophon's fondest dream to do some brave and valiant deed, so when the King proposed that he should go out and test his strength against the Chimera he was only too eager to prepare himself for this mighty task.

My holiday

On Monday my Gran and Pop came and picked us up at 8:30 in the morning!!!! We had to go to pick up Min Huik’s our exchange student’s parents from the airport. Their plane was delayed because it was really foggy that day. So we waited for half an hour but the plane was still delayed. We didn’t want to stay at the airport until they came so we decided to go to the National Museum of Australia to see what we can tell Min Huik’s parents.

When we got a call from his parents we went back to the airport. When his mother first saw me she started to squeeze me and I just giggled, she looked confused it was funny. We went to the National Museum of Australia and we spent an hour there and then we went to New Parliament House to have lunch.

My Pop works there so we can go places that other people cannot go. After we had lunch my Pop gave me, my brother, my other brother, my Gran, Min Huik and his parents a tour around New Parliament House. We left at about 3:00 because Min Huik was going to get an electric violin and an amp and an affix petal.

We got home and got our bags because we were going to the farm, not Min Huik, he was going to Sydney with his parents. It was a one hour ride from here up to Michelago. We got to the farm at about 5:00pm we all unpacked our bags into our rooms. I was in my Old Pops room. He was really special to me but he is dead and I still miss him.

The next week we went to the coast, it was so fun. It was a three hour drive. We got there at 6:00pm. The first thing that we did was look around our cabin and unpacked our luggage. After that we went to the beach. My dad said he could see Jupiter. I saw two shooting stars, it was really magical.

In the middle of the night I was having a bad night I was really sick so my mum made me sleep on the lounge in the lounge room which it is outside all of the bedrooms but I got a good night sleep after that.

The next morning I woke up at 6:00am and I thought it was 8. So for the next hour I just played my DS. It was then seven’ o clock and I woke up my brother. I told him come and watch T.V with me. My brother, mum and I went to the pool which was right next to our cabin so it was really fast to get there. When we got in the pool it was SO warm my mum liked it. (She is not a big fan of water.) When we got back to our cabin it was 11am and my brother and dad were still asleep. My other brother and I woke them up by a drag of the chair. It sounded so bad.

When the boys woke up we had breakfast. I had a hot chocolate because I had had breakfast before we went to the pool. We all watched T.V for an hour and then we went to the pool again. My dad threw me across the water. It sort of hurt on my back and my stomach. The pool looks so pretty because the sun is reflecting on to the water. It looks like there is lighting in the water it was very cool.

That day we went to the beach and just put our feet in but my brother pushed me in the water and I was wearing jeans which got so wet and heavy I could barely walk back to our cabin. When we got back to our cabin I had a hot chocolate to warm me up because I went in the sea. My brother just laughed at me and I growled. He ran away after I growled at him.

We went for a walk to see around the park that we stayed in because it has been four years since we have been there. There is this thing called a Jumping pillow, it is really fun. I patted a baby kangaroo which is called a Joey. We all went to the café that is there and I got a coke in a glass bottle. It actually tastes different. It tastes more sweet than the normal coke in a plastic bottle.

We only stayed there for five days but it was very fun. Another time I will tell you about the other three days.

Here are some pictures of me and my dad:
Here is me on the jumping pillow:

Challenge about haiku on snow

Snow makes you feel cold

You have to warm yourself after

Flakes are different

Did you know:

Did you know that snow flakes are never the same pattern they are all different on some way.

Did you know it can get cold enough that it doesn't snow! Because snow is frozen water, if there are not enough water droplets in the air it can't snow.

Did you know you can make your own cloud by breathing in cold weather. Or, try breathing on a mirror; there will be a clear gray cloud on it!

Did you know for it to snow the tops of the clouds must be below 0 degrees Celsius, or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is Puppy and Dragonflys newspaper

This is my newspaper:

Tirragia day 2

Day 2 camping at Tirrigai

I wake up and ask what the noise is. Again, it's the girls next door. They are a pain! We all wake up besides Green Elephant and went to the toilet. We all stayed in bed and tried to sleep, but the girls next door keep on talking I ask Pink Bunny what the time is and she says it's 6:00 in the morning! Everyone is tired and we are going to go to do a lot of activities. Like climbing, more climbing and more climbing!
At 7:30 Ms Teia comes in and tells table group number 3
had to go to the kitchen to get ready to set up. Finally, Tara's clock says it's 8:00. It means that it is time for breakfast! For breakfast we had cereal and some toast. I only ate the cereal. I'm not a really big fan of toast, but still had one slice to be polite.

After, we went to the meeting area to be up into 2 groups again. As I said I was in Puppies and Butterfly's group. When the groups had been divided we went off to our activities and Sooey was our guide and she said that we were going to make a fire using 1 match, a lot of sticks and some newspaper. First Sooey told us what we were going to do and that we had to get into groups I was in a group with Puppy, Butterfly and a girl named Cute Puppy. We were doing this activities because Sooey thought it would be a good idea for teamwork.
My team and I did a great job. Just then Sooey told us to come over and sit down in our groups. Then she said we were going to make "damper twists" I had no idea what a damper twits was, but I was going to find out soon enough. Sooey then told us what a damper was and what do you know! A damper is a piece of dough and you put it on the end of a damper stick. A damper stick is just any old stick but it has been cleaned and the sharp ends have been cut off for safety reasons.

When we were trying to make the damper some of them took quite a while to cook like mine took a long time to cook. This is how you cook a damper. Step 1 you get a damper stick and you put the dough on its thickest end. Step 2 you put the damper 1cm above the hot coal and don't put the damper above the fire or else it will burn and it won't be nice to eat.
Step 3 do the flick test. The flick test shows you if the damper has cooked well or not.
If the damper is hollow when you flick it, it is eatable. If the damper is not hollow and it is a thump sort of noise it is probably not eatable. And finally! Step 4 once you have done the flick test and it does sound hollow, pull the damper off gently and before you start eating squirt some golden syrup into the hole f the damper and start to eat. Delicious!
The next thing you know we go and sit down and Sooey tells us what we are going to do next. She tells us that we are going to go on a glorious bush walk. When she said bush walk I really hoped it would be glorious. After, Sooey told us that we were going to leave our things here because we were coming back obviously. She checked that we had our drink bottles and hats, then we walked into the bush. We saw kangaroos, we also saw the rock that the Aborigines used to cook there food in. It was called the rock shelter.

Here is a picture of the rock shelter:Sooey then told us to sit down while she told us about the rock shelter. People used to cook in the rock shelter and also eat in the rock shelter. Mrs Cawless said it wouldn't be to shabby to live in there. I thought it was a joke and luckily it was! Then we set off and found some more amazing places! It was great, then we went back to the meeting area for lunch. As usual Mr McToud gave medication to the people who had to have medication and as usual we went to the cafeteria first and sat down quietly and waited.
For lunch we had croissant's with cheese, ham and salad. After, we went straight back to our activities. As always we went back to a day filled with amusing activities. It was quite fun the whole day. Once lunch had ended we got free time. For free time the boys played touch football (as usual) and the girls just hung out in their cabins talking, except for my cabin, we played hide and seek in the dark. It was a creepy sort of feeling but in a sense really fun and enjoyable.

The time had passed to quickly. The teachers gathered us up into 2 lines and then we headed straight to the meeting area for dinner. Our meal for dinner was pizza and some salad. It was delicious (as always) and since it was our last night sleeping here we had to be polite and give them a clap. After cleaning up Mrs Teia rounded us up outside the eating area and told us what to do. Because it was game night! Everyone was freaking out about what games we were going to do and if we lollies, but we had to go to our cabins to take a shower and get dressed and get ready for games night. After a while
Mrs Teia came and got everybody into 2 lines and headed off to where we were going to play the games.
To my surprise we were playing the games in the meeting area! The games that we were playing were: Balloons, Chop the chocolate, Neck to Neck, Ping pong keep it balanced, human musical bobs and the Pirate Game. Mrs Cawless lead all of the games and I won twice in the Pirate Game and the human musical bobs. It was way fun and in camp the whole time I never got into trouble. But Tara did she got into so much trouble that she almost wasn't aloud out of the cabin besides dinner, lunch and breakfast.

Games night passed to quickly. After 2 hours which seemed like 5 minutes since everyone was having such a great time. After we finished every single game, we had to go back to our cabins, brush up and go to bed. But it doesn't end everyone is about to fall asleep when it happens.
The girls next door are making a giant noise. So giant that Mrs Cawless goes straight to the girls cabin and tells them off and while she's there she checks our cabin and sees that we are all asleep but we are all just pretending and while we lay in bed we go yes and we all pull our left fist down. Then after a while everybody has fallen asleep.

Bursting The Balloon!!

Burst The Balloon!!
Word Bank:
balloon, spoon, vinegar, bicarb soda, bottle, reaction, exiting, prediction, need, procedure, burst, colourful, fingers, teacher, blow up, haiku, gas

What you need:
a glass bottle
a balloon
bicarbonate of soda
some vinegar

What to do:
Now for the fun! Nervous people (not like me) stand well back. What do you predict will happen? If you are very brave, you can fill the balloon with a larger amount of bicarbonate of soda, and use more vinegar. It should produce a better result.
If you are very brave, you can fill the balloon with a more of bicarbonate of soda, and use more vinegar. It should have a better result.
My prediction: is that it will work and the balloon will blow up with-out using your breath because the bicarb soda will interact with the vinegar

What to do:

Use a teaspoon, fill the balloon part way with bicarbonate of soda. Fill the bottle part way with vinegar. Without letting the bicarbonate of soda in the balloon drop into the bottle, place the balloon carefully over the top of the bottle. Now watch as the bicarbonate soda falls into the vinegar and it will react.

As the bicarbonate of soda mixes with the vinegar it forms carbon dioxide gas and blows up the balloon!

How does this happen?

The vinegar mixes with the bicarbonate of soda to create a reaction with the two product that produces carbon dioxide gas. The gas then blows up the balloon!!!!!! How interesting!!!

Haiku about balloons:

Balloons can pop fast

Balloons are entertaiment

Balloons are great fun

The Disco

The Disco

On Friday the 12th we went to the disco. The junior disco went from 6:00 until 7:30 and the senior disco went from 7:45 until 9:00. For the disco Puppy came to my house. For afternoon tea we had chips and some delicious hot chocolate and then went to a band rehearsal including my brothers and I. Band rehearsal took 1 hour. Including the singers, ones of the singers was me. There were a few people from my school including me, Janie and Will. Band felt like forever, but it was nice to here the girls sing with other friends.

Once band practice was over we went straight back to my house and we were going to get ready for the disco. After we had gotten ready we had dinner. For dinner we had chips and bread I only ate the chips. Then we put our make up on and we were flaming with enthusiasm to go to the disco. But my mum had to do our hair and she made us look really cool and punk. Even though we were dressing up as vampires. Once my mum had done our hair we went back upstairs to get the rest of our costume on. Then we almost forgot to put on our earrings.

I had dangley earrings and there were 3 bits at the bottom with black and we also painted our nails really dark purple. When we were ready to go Charlie's mum put on this really cool hair spray and it made our hair all glittery and shiny. We got to the disco a little bit late so we missed out on the limbo and a few of some wonderful songs.
Our DJ was DJ Cliff. Last year the disco's DJ was the Principal's sister. But DJ Cliff is better because he is at all the discos I've been to so far.

As soon as me and Puppy got there we went straight to the lollies counter and started to bye as many lollies as possible. It was great fun. Then we saw the boys and as soon as they saw us Adrian told all of his friends to laugh at us. Then every time we saw them they just kept on laughing at us. It just kept going on at the disco so Puppy and I didn't have that much fun when we went to the disco. Adrian's parents were there but we were to busy just sitting down. Since we were so angry at the boys.

Here is a picture that was kind of like our disco.

The disco didn't go on for that long since Puppy and me got there late. When the disco finished my dad came to pick me up. He was there and I was a metre away from him and he didn't realise that it was me because of my hair and also because I was so pale from using to much white powder. When I looked behind my shoulder I realised it was him then I got up and walked towards him. When he saw me he thought I was a complete stranger! Then I gave him that sweet smile that I always gave him since I was a baby. Then he realised it was me and then said I looked really different. When we were about to go home Puppy almost forgot that she left her things at my house, but luckily my mum came and I saw in her hand that she had my things.

When she collected my things from my mum's hand and we were off. When I got home with my dad I went straight to shower but before I showered mum saw me! Uh Oh. She was speechless she just didn't know what to say. Then to my surprise she said I was absolutely gorgeous. Once she said that I dashed to my room got my stuff and got ready to take a shower. When I walked out of my room I saw that my dad had a camera and was getting ready to take a picture of me as soon as he saw me he took the picture. I wasn't happy about it but I just kept calm and went to shower. After my glorious shower I got into my pyjama's brushed up and went to bed because I was very tired!!

Cloze Exercise - The Swimming Carnival.

The Swimming Carnival.

On the 4th of May our school went to the swimming pool and had a really good time.
Jack V. was the Junior Boy's Champion winning all his races and the Junior Girls Champion was Freda S. who swam really well in most of her races. The races at the carnival included freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke and the girls and boys medley.
All the children at Howard's Primary School got on the bus at 9:30 in the morning and got to the pool at 9:45.
The first race kicked off at 9:50 and was the girls and boys medley. This was just one of the races that Freda and Jack won.
Altogether the swimming carnival was the best ever one I have been to.

Ali Baba

The men stayed inside the rock for some time but Ali Baba didn't move. At last the door opened and forty men came out. The door closed and the rock looked like an ordinary rock again. Then the men galloped away.

As soon as they were gone, Ali Baba climbed down and stared at the rock for a long time. Then he cried, ''Open Sesame!"

The door opened. Ali Baba looked inside and couldn't believe his eyes. There was treasure everywhere. Gold and silver laying heaps on the floor and jars were filled to the brim with gleaming jewels. Costly silks were thrown everywhere. Rare carpets were heaped in the corners. Money bags lay in piles.

When Ali Baba saw this, he was sure the forty men had been robbers, and that this was their treasure . ''Thank goodness they didn't see me, '' he thought.

My time at Tirrigai day one

Camping At Tirrigai Day 1
I woke up in the morning and I am going crazy about camp. I make sure I have everything ready in my suitcase but then I forgot to check on my puppy Two-bob. As soon as I had went to check on my puppy my brother and my dad woke up. Then I looked at the time. It is almost 9'o clock! Dad quickly tells us to get ready so that we can leave. My brother and I are always in the car before my dad gets there. He really does make an effort to hurry. My brother starts the engine, even though he is 12 he knows a lot about cars. Finally dad gets into the car and reverses. I'm dropped off first. I kiss my dad goodbye and say to my brother goodbye blankly.

I stare at my dad's car while his driving away, slowly. I take a deep breath before walking to the line and putting my bag down. I'm exited but also sad, exited because I am going to camp for 2 whole nights! Sad because I'm leaving my puppy even though we've had her for only 2 weeks. I start to think about camp and smile. I slowly walk to line with my suitcase and when I finally get there I put my suitcase down and see if Green Elephant, Emma, Pink Bunny, Butterfly, Puppy and Pink Kitty are there. I only see Emma, Pink Bunny, and Butterfly. After a little while I see Pink Kitty we all greet and are all very exited if we are in the same cabin group. As soon as the bell rings we all sit down and wait until the meeting is done. After we go straight to the front and to my surprise the bus is already there.

Mr McLeod and the bus driver were putting the suitcases in a little compartment underneath the bus. I'm now going to tell you which teachers were coming with us. The teachers that are coming with us are Ms Tiena, Ms Callers and Mr McLeod. Before Mr McLeod could let us on the bus he called out names in the roll list. The trip to Tirrigai is a 30 minute drive. Once we finally get on to the bus Mr McLeod tells us we can talk but not loudly or else it will distract the bus driver.

After 30 minutes of driving at last we're at Tirrigai. Once we get off the bus we see another school, that school was called St Nazis. When all the bags were unloaded we grabbed them and met a Boy named Ken and a girl named Susie. Ken said who he was and told us we were going to do 6 steps. Step 1 was we get a Tirrigai bottle and we go fill it up from the water tank. Step 2 we got an ANZAC cookie without nuts in it. Step 3 we go back and sit down behind any cone. Step 4 eat your cookie. Step 5 put your name on your drink bottle. Finally, step 6 go to the toilet if you need to. After Ken told us all the steps he told us which table group we were in. I was in table group number 5.

Here is our cabins. So since I was in table group number 4, at lunch time I had to sit with whoever was in table group number 4.Here is a picture of the cabinsAfter we went to where the cabins were and Mr McLeod told us which cabin group we were in. Surprisingly I was in the same cabin group as Green Elephant, Emma, Pink Bunny, Butterfly, Puppy and Pink Kitty. We were so excited to be in the same cabin group. We all walked straight in one line. Then we put our bags down looking like we're going to scream. Then the next thing you know instead of a big squeal everyone in the cabin let out a little squeal of excitement.

After we heard a fire alarm and we looked outside the window everybody was running to the meeting area. Mr McLeod, Ms Tia and Ms Callers were there. Mr McLeod said it was lunch so we had to go to our table group number. Once lunch had ended we went back to our cabin to get ready. Then when we were ready to go Ms Tia came to our cabin group and called us out to line up to go to the meeting area to start the activities. When everybody got there, there were 2 cones and Ken and Sooty were there. Ken was holding a sheet of paper and I was guessing we were going to be split up again and what do you know! We were going to be split up again luckily I was with two of my friends Butterfly and Puppy.

We started off with some simple stuff like the first thing we did was something like photo orienteering but a little bit different. A little while later we had dinner and for dinner we had a roast. It was delicious!! Then we went to our cabins and sat down for a bit while people showered in our cabin. Once everybody finished taking a shower, we were all in our PJ's and getting ready for something we didn't expect. As soon as I got out of the shower Ms Tia came in and said that we were going to go to a movie in the kids area. Behind a little wall with interesting things in it. Anyway we went into the little door and got ourselves all settled in. Did I mention that we got to bring our pillows with us so we were really comfy.

The movie was called " Camp Rock" it was a really cool movie, in the middle of it some of the boys jumped up and started dancing. It was kind of weird, but we just ignored them. While the boys were jumping up and down like monkeys Emma and I were singing along quietly and also calmly. At the end of the movie we went back to our cabins we brushed up then we went to bed.
